With gilt crest to upper board and decorations and text in gilt to spine. Boards triple-ruled in black. xviii, 580pp. Frontis. + 14 plates - all present. Extemities worn and rubbed, cloth sl. soiled. Occasional foxing to pages, 19th century ownership signature, some gatherings sl. proud. Advertising flyer for another book - Henry Southgate's "Many Thoughts of Many Minds" attached to front paste-down. As this was first published in 1862 it verifies the date of this volume. Contents very sl. shaken o/w VG+. Scarce in original cloth.
