Hardcover, published by Viking, 1935. A third printing copy. The first being in December 1935, this third printing was issued later the same month. A collection of some of Woolcott's favorite fiction, each followed by a short Afterword. Authors include; J.M. Barrie, Anthony Hope, Thornton Wilder, Ian MacLaren, Saki, Clarence Day, Lytton Strachey, and more. A total of 17 selections. 5-7/8" X 8-3/4" X 2", 1,010 pages. Brick red cloth covered boards, with the title within a black field on the spine and a blind stamp impression on the front of the title and a profile of Woolcott design. Cover boards are flat, the corners are not bumped or worn, no edge wear. No dust jacket. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Sewn binding is tight and square. Edges of the text block are relatively clean with some age tanning to the top edge. Age tanning to the gutter area of the pastedown-endpapers - both front and back. Not a library discard copy. The attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory.
