We ordered this book, because we had just come back from norway. We had seen it, at the FRAM MUSEUM in Oslo. This houses, spectacularly, the fram polar expedition ship, used by nansen,/and amundsen, for arctic/antarctic exploration . It was amazing to see such an object, previously only known to us from historical documentation, photographs etc. It was really accessible, norwegian schoolchildren with teachers, in school parties, climbing all over it. There was a piano, you could see into the galley kitchen etc ; they lived there for several years at a time Together with all the surrounding information -eg nansen's subsequent interest /active participation in origin of League of Nations/ concerns with starvation in Russia/Armenien massacres -all culminating in the award, naturally in Oslo , of the Nobel Peace Prize. My husband, correctly, suggested that this would be a large ,heavy, book to carry back to scotland. So, we bought it, for half the price , from you I am now the scottish expert on nansen.....
