Tall octavo (7-1/8" x 10-7/8") bound in half ivory-toned imported English sheep vellum and boards decorated by the illustrator with "an African Negro mask through which can be discerned a pair of Caucasian blue eyes." Introduction by Leo Gurko; designed by Richard Ellis. Copy #1000 of 1500 illustrated in color by Robert Shore and SIGNED by the artist on the colophon page.

Synopsis

Heart of Darkness is a novella written by Joseph Conrad. Before its 1902 publication, it appeared as a three-part series (1899) in Blackwood's Magazine. It is widely regarded as a significant work of English literature and part of the Western canon. The story details an incident when Marlow, an Englishman, took a foreign assignment from a Belgian trading company as a ferry-boat captain in Africa.
