Contains an index, bibliography, and an index of works in the rear. 156 illustrations: 74 in color, 82 in duotone. Bound in the publisher's original gray cloth covers, this is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings with the exception of a small black remainder stripe on the bottom edge near the spine. The dust jacket in similarly nice condition with just a little wear but no significant chips, tears, or markings. Lavishly illustrated with 176 colour reproductions reproducing every print (71) and sculpture (105) created by Erté in the last few years of his life, nearly all hitherto unprinted. Felt-pen remainder mark to the bottom edge else in fine state with non-price-clipped dust wrapper, very lightly chafed and lifting at several extremities. Romain de Tirtoff, who worked under the pseudonym Erté (the French pronunciation of his initials), was a celebrated artist and designer who produced 250 covers for "Harper's Bazaar" as well as fashion designs for some of the world's most glamorous stars, and costume & set designs for Hollywood and stage productions..

Erte comments on the illustrations chosen for his costume book in this Autograph Letter Signed, in English, 2 separate folio pp with a 3 separate page folio addendum, all on printed "Erte" stationery, Paris, France, May, 7 1979 with signed transmittal envelope. Erte critiques the illustrations to be included in "Erte's Theatrical Costumes in Full Color," published in 1979 by Dover (reprinted in 2016). He gives detailed notes on the costume selection and placement to Stanley Applebaum, Editor-in-Chief at Dover. "Erte's Theatrical Costumes in Full Color," is a collection of 49 of Erte's exotic and historical costume designs for theater productions (and for well-known theater personalities), ballets, Folies-Bergere, and the like from 1911-1975.
