Black and white illustrated frontispiece and plates. Pastedowns and free endpapers marbled patterned. Slight crinkling to gutters however binding remains firm. Pages are heavily tanned with noticeable foxing. Heavier tanning to textblock fore edges. Rough cut pages. Textblock top edge dyed gold. Boards have heavy edge-wear with bumping to corners, crushing to spine ends and rub wear all over. Moderate fraying to leather corners and spine. Minor loss to spine. Gilt lettering is bright and clear.

One-quarter inch label with the number "7" affixed to the spine covering. Previous owner bookplate on the front pastedown. The binding is tight and square, and the text is clean. Bound in red cloth with gilt spine titles. Volume 7 of a 25-volume set of Balzac's work in English translation.

Boards have mild shelf wear with light rubbing and corner bumping. Some light marking and sunning.

Frontisiece and occasional engraved plates. Very handsome readable edition.
