Part of the Columbine Library series, which was published between 1884 and 1920; 535 p., clean and unmarked except for letter S in red on front paste down; paper strong and only mildly age-toned, occasional foxing on end pages; bindign firm; maroon boards have blind stamped medallion emblem featuring a flowering stlak of columbine; gilt lettering on spine. Corners are bumped and there is rubbing on edges.

New York: F. M. Lupton Publishing Book. Good. Cloth. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Tan cloth binding. Clean pages with no markings in the text. There is a name on the front end paper and some light soiling on the front end papers. The page are tanned. There is some soiling on the page edging. The spine has some dark spots. No date of publication mentioned, but appears to be late 1800s or early 1900s..

Original Art Nouveau decorated cloth (probably designed by Talwin Morris), faintly rubbed, but clean & bright. Internally, a prize label from Rotherham, dated 1910, endpapers browned, else clean & unmarked.. Reprint. Hardcover. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

Decorative cloth boards, art-deco patterns to front board and spine, some discolouration from use but generally tight and very good, small tear to top of spine, a little bowing to corners, no inscriptions, contents clean, coloured frontispiece 'The bounding boy skipped about in front of the captive, ' captive tied to a tree with an axe very close to his head, looks like the Indian is preparing to throw another axe, 254 pages, 6.75 x 4.75 inches approx. .

Hinges are cracked but yellow end papers intact. Book is complete. Name in pencil. Boards are rubbed, edges, corners and spine edges worn. Some pages were printed with a crinkle. Some page corners creased, a couple of stains. Good-

Original cloth biunding with decorative embossed design to the front end board and spine. No date although a presentation book plate to the front end paper dated 1899. Slight soiling to the boards. Light rubbing to the head and tail of the spine. Some splitting to the front inner hinge, leaving the front board a little shaken. Internally clean and tight. A very good copy.

The Deerslayer, or The First Warpath (1841) was the last of James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking tales to be written. Its 1740-1745 time period makes it the first installment chronologically and in the lifetime of the hero of the Leatherstocking tales, Natty Bumppo. The novel's setting on Otsego Lake in central, upstate New York, is the same as that of The Pioneers, the first of the Leatherstocking tales to be published (1823). The Deerslayer is considered to be the prequel to the rest of the Leatherstocking tales. Fenimore Cooper begins his work by relating the astonishing advance of civilization in New York State, which is the setting of four of his five Leatherstocking tales. All half-titles present.
