The third of the Vine Books issued to subscribers from "The Bookman's Journal" office, London, and decorated by three original wood-blocks designed and engraved by W.P Robins. Bound in full red morocco, tooled in gilt interlacing floral designs, the covers with a gilt rule border with triple rule inner border with floral decoration-s at corners, the front cover with a central gilt tooled crest bearing the motto Dum Spiro Spero and the head of a loon. All edges gilt. Very Good, wear at all edges and joints, darkening to morocco at edges, small label of noted book collector Frederick Spiegelberg front paste down. small chip bottom corner p. 159, scattered light toning. Copiously illustrated in the text by Honore Daumier, Gagniet, Gavarni, Grandville , Malapeau, Meissonier, Pauquet, Penguilly, Raymond Pelez, and Trimolet.
