A very scarce and unusual VOLLAND BOOK, every other page is illustrated with 3-color cartoon-like illustrations by [Clare] Briggs with verses by WILBUR NESBIT opposite. Text and illustration deal with the misadventures of typical middle-American children at the turn of the Twentieth century-Skinnay and his friends. Briggs's first book and a rare and early Volland title.


This book is in Fine Condition as stated. There is no wear to the covers with just the merest bump to front bottom edge. The back has a one surface abrasion on back. The pages have no folds nor tears nor stains. The pages are supple with just a slight age toning. Former owner's name in small print on inside front cover and inside back cover. It has been in its Extremely Rare Box.
