However front cover and front endpapers are together but completely separated from book. Twenty percent of spine is gone. Rest is cracked and torn. Back cover is still OK. Book is loose but together. Leather. 670 pages plus 226 pages of selections from the Psalms of David in metre with hymns suited to the feasts and fasts of the church and other occasions of public worship plus 4 pages of Gloria Patri (part of page 3/4 is missing plus table of contents page part of which is also missing. Leather covers are together but not attached to text. Covers are in quite good condition a bit scuffed and nicked and edge worn but not bad for age. Gold lettering on spine is worn but ok. Yellow endpapers of which free front end page is missing and free rear end page has a corner missing and other minor damage. Previous owner was Alfred Payton Crafts, Union College, June '49 (1849) . AEG (all edge gold). Book has looseness although nothing is actually falling apart. Since all pages are not consecutive it is hard to tell if there are any missing. Last page of Gloria Patri is230 and Table of Hymns is 237. There is a complete separation there. ; 4 1/4 x 6 ; 896 pages .

Minor page browning. Embellished with nearly 100 engravings color plates, half-tones, woodcuts and pen drawings made especially for this volume. Brown embossed covers with the gold lettering lettering on spine still front brown cover has some small stains and markings. All cover edges show normal wear the the outside corners frayed. Front and rear endpages are yellow with the handwritten name Selium? Hand tied spine cord still quite tight. Text is still clean and tight. However all pages have a large 3 1/2 inch light stain. Top of spine has a one inch by one inch piece missing showing the gauze type material underneath. Front cover completely separated from text. Rear cover still attached from top to bottom. Since the covers are a bit larger than the text, the rear cover has some small bits worn off the edge. Part of the leather on the lower spine needs to be reglued. Text is still clean/tight.
