Description:
A children's rhyme book thoroughly handwritten and drawn by spanish poet and draughtsman José Moreno Villa, during his lenghty exile in Mexico. Moreno Villa is best known as an early exponent of surrealism in Spain (for Jacinta la pelirroja), and later as a historian of baroque mexican art who coined the term "tequitqui" (as an analogue to the use of "mudéjar" in Spain). Edited by Manuel Altolaguirre under his imprint ISLA, it is one of the most elusive books produced by the spanish exiles in Mexico. Large quarto, publisher's printed… Read More

Description:
México, Frédéric, 2011. Publisher's boards, cloth spine. Cover a bit rubbed, else as new. #34 of 250 numbered copies. The so-called 'Archives of Terror' in Asuncion, Paraguay, constitute the largest collection of documents from the years of repression in South America ever to be released to the public. Their unexpected appearance nearly four years after the end of Alfredo Stroessner's dictatorship had some immediate and foreseeable consequences, which translated into an unexpected media uproar and the resurrection of stalled human rights trials." – Alfredo Boccia, Rosa Palau and Osvaldo Salerno, "Paraguay: The Archives of Terror."
Albores Gleason's book juxtaposes an investigation of Paraguay's so-called Archives of Terror with elements appropriated from the TV show Twin Peaks and excerpts from the writing of Giorgio Agamben, Walter Benjamin, Jacques Derrida, and Michel Foucault. Includes text in Spanish and English.

Description:
Read More
