Folds out to 24 sections. Scale of 3 miles to one inch. Folded size: 24.5 x 21 cm, opening out to 95 x 120 cm. Attractively printed in various colours, (pink, yellow, light orange and green), with a panel devoted to geology map, as well as text panels at sides for Index-Gazetteer. Good condition overall: the map is very good, bright and clean, with slight browning to margins, and the folds are clean and sturdy; there are some light marks to back of linen. The cloth covers are fair only as spine panel is largely lost but the front is very good and with bright gilt of title; creases to back. Red cloth with gilt titles to spine. 500pp. With nearly 100 illustrations from b&w photos, sketches and watercolours done by the author on the spot; including tissue-guarded frontispiece. Interesting ownership inscription on front free endpaper, of the Government Veterinary Surgeon at Kimberley South Africa in 1897. A Good only copy. The contents are very good, well-bound, with generally clean pages which have some browning to lower margins near edges (which are browned). Endpapers very browned. Covers have heavy fading to front cover though spine and back better with bright gilt; cloth splits to spine edge. Pictures available.

Page faces clean, main body of pages very good, though front free endpaper detached (present) with abrasions and browning to endpapers and prelims (brittle paper).

The field experiences of the author and Russell W. Hendee on the Colorado Museum of Natural History expedition in 1921-2 to the Bering Strait and Arctic coast of Alaska, with 'a compiled list of the birds' (actually detailed species accounts). Includes photos of human inhabitants, way of life, and other wildlife. A Very Good+ copy, with very slight dulling to spine cloth, and 1949 owner's name to flyleaf.

Reproduces in b&w the complete wash drawings (over 260) made by Peter Tillemans in the 1720s for a projected county history of Northamptonshire; also with a few other illustrations. Detailed texts on the ilustrations and introduction by local historian Bruce Bailey. Fine in Very Good protected jacket. Light yellowing to closed eges and margins. The author was a tackle manufacturer with a shop in Nottingham (advert at back), and this book was originally published in 1866. Covers clean and bright, a few marks to back, lightly bumped and rubbed edges with frayed spine ends. Binding a little slack but sound; two names to title page. A Good+ copy.
