An uncommon educational work by Eliza Cheap (fl. 1820s-1830s) drawing upon zoological and botanical metaphors to illustrate a series of moral lessons for children. A very good copy, the binding square and firm with a very slight hint of cracking to the front hinge and a small bump to the foot of the lower board. The contents remain in very good order throughout. The dustwrapper with some marking to the rear panel and the odd minor nick the extremities is otherwise also very good. A reproduction of the jounral and letters of Ralph Clark, a member of the First Fleet, the fleet of eleven ships which brought the first British colonists and convicts to Australia.

The contents with the occasional spot of light foxing to the edges of the textblock are otherwise in very good order and clean throughout. An uncommon set of Collinson's works concerning the history of Cairns, Queensland, Australia and its surrounding area.

The contents with an old water mark to the top margin of the first 60 pages or so, a few small stains to the edges of pp.261-268, and some light scattered foxing are otherwise in very good order. The plates themselves are clean and bright, the colours remaining vivid. The contents comprising 157pp. of ink manuscript text in several different hands (completely full), beginning in a late eighteenth/early nineteenth-century hand (43pp., plus another 16pp. in the same hand at the rear providing medicinal and household recipes), with the remainder (98pp.) largely in a mid nineteenth-century hand, although including a few later nineteenth-century entries. The binding with significant cracking to the front hinge (although still holding), loss to the foot of the spine and some bowing to the boards. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece. 107pp. A very good copy, the binding firm with a little rubbing and marking to the boards and minor wear to the corners of the boards and tips of the spine. The contents are in very good order throughout. An attractive edition of this popular tale, first published in 1806. This was Cottin's final and most famous work, telling the story of a young woman who travels from Siberia to St. Petersburg to secure a pardon for her exiled father.

The largest measuring 17 x 13cm, with some smaller. All uncaptioned but with a contemporary envelope bearing a British military government stamp dated 18th July 1946 and reference "512 P DET" and additional manuscript tag "508 DET LÜBECK". Condition is very good indeed. An unusual group of photographs, apparently originating from the British administration in Germany during the immediate post-war period, depicting the experiences of refugees from the former eastern territories of Germany, annexed by Poland and the Soviet Union following the end of the war, displaced and now residing in Lübeck.
