With a label on the reverse of the frame, apparently Quest's own entry label for an exhibition, written in ink, reading: "Charles Quest/Washington University/School of Fine Arts/St. Louis, Mo./Won 1st Graphic Arts Prize at St. Louis Artist's Guild 1948/Owned by the Mills College Art Museum, Oakland, California/Exhibited at the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C., 1948/Exhibited at St. Louis City Art Museum/& other museums throughout the country," and with a tag affixed to the label with the printed number "325," likely the number of the work in the exhibition. In excellent condition. Charles Quest, American, 1904-1993. Quest studied and taught at Washington University. He was a painter and a printmaker in the Modernist tradition, exhibited widely, and won many awards. His work is in the collections of many museums

Quevedo (1580-1645), Spanish satirist, moralist and poet. Bramer (1596-1674), painter and graphic artist, born in Holland, worked in France and Italy.

Quinteros, Adolfo (Mexican, 1927-1994). LA BANDA MUSICOS DE SAN JUAN COATZOSPAN, VER. (THE MUSICAL BAND OF SAN JUAN COATZOSPAN, VERA CRUZ). Woodcut, 1966, edition size not known. Titled and signed in pencil. 19 3/8 x 35 1/8 inches (image), 24 x 37 inches (sheet). Sheet trimmed a bit unevenly at top and bottom, but with ample margins, else in excellent condition. A vigorous, work, with a lot going on. Each of the ten musicians rendered as an individual charachter. Although dating from the sixties, it shows the strong influence of Mexican printmaking of the 1930s abd 40s. Thanks to Jeremy Wilson for providing the folllowing biographical information: Adolfo Quinteros Gomez (1927 - 1994) was born on June 1st in the city of Chihuahua and moved to Mexico City in 1951 thanks to a scholarship from the government.
