Description:
RAVEL (Maurice). AUTOGRAPH DOCUMENT SIGNED. 21,5 × 13,5 cm, framed. Ca. March 1934.A most poignant document, one of the last written by Ravel. This is the draft of a letter to his brother (the letter is lost, or may never have been sent), showing one of the greatest composers of the 20th century struggling with an illness which makes him almost unable to write in his mother tongue. (Forgotten words, crossed words, spelling mistake, perhaps an instance of the word "word" written in lieu of another word, unfinished draft.)
Written on the back of an invoice for clothes established to Ravel.
