1888 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Signed and Inscribed By the Author. Written on the first free end paper of the book, Narrative and Legendary Poems by Whittier, 316 of 400 copies, limited, Signed and dated by John G. Whittier (I can't read the month) 18, 1888 who hand-wrote a two stanza, eight line segment from My Triumph that starts "Others shall sing the song," on the first free end paper. The book is uncut and only in good condition. It is water stained along the bottom edge, but still clean and tight with no other writing. A hole in the spine has been professionally restored. This is a great and unusual item for a Whittier collector..

1880 Book. Good. Soft cover. The wrap is taped along the spine with what looks like pH neutral tape that won't yellow. The wrap is worn with an occational very short tear but not chipped. There is a light water stain along the bottom of each plate. There are seven books (two books are illustrated on one set of plates) illustrated with six each of the following: black and white drawings of the cover; color drawings of the cover; and drawings of the title page of four of the books.
