Thirteen photos, including nine real photo postcards and four snapshots. All but one have a typed identification on the front or back. A few mention C.M. Massey, who was a Geologist. Gold mining, the Rockies, and Placer Claims are mentioned. The snapshots measures 3.5" x 5.75" and the real photo postcards measure 3.5" x 5.375." They are undated but are c. 1940s. An internet search of C.M. Massey, bring up some of his geological projects. All photos are shown.

Late 1950s, early 1960s European Circus album, with writing on the pages in German, Italian, French and English. It appears to be kept by someone named Juanita, who most of the inscriptions are made out to, and it looks like she worked behind the scenes at German circus that seemed to travel around Europe. In one photo, the performer writes that it was pleasant working with her and her family. There are 45 photos housed in a 21 page 11.5" x 7.25" album with an embossed, red-leather cover, and with most having onion skin protective sheets between each page. Black album pages measure: 10"x6.75". The largest photo - of two circus performers in costume in a studio - is loose at the front of the album and measures 7"x9.5". Interesting document of German interwar Naval life. 29 leaves/58 pages, black and dark gray, interleaved with spiderweb-pattern protectors. Inside covers also utilized for photos. 9 7/8" x 7" x 1 1/4". Careful captions in white ink, in German cursive, fully legible. 75 photos carefully pasted in, with three more loose photos tucked in. Various dates are listed in the captions, some twice; all years mentioned are in the header above. Numerous battleships are photographed: the "Konigsberg", "Schleswig-Holstein", "Braunschweig", and "Schlesien", as well as three photos of the original Graf Zeppelin at sea, including one of it floating overhead. The sailors visit Norway; play on deck with a little bear; lay about the ship; frolic in the first snow; sail the fjords; enjoy physical-ed ('gymnastik'); receive the King of Spain on board (his ship is also pictured); attend the annual passion-play at Oberammergau; clean their rifles. 13 x 9.5" blue cloth covered string-bound album with gold patterns stamped onto the front and back. Contains around 258 black and white photos depicting a group of friends and their traveling adventures from around 1923 to 1932. The group appear to be from Germany based on the language used in the handwritten captions accompanying the photographs and the names of the ships on which they traveled, which included the Norddeutscher Lloyd out of Bremen and the General Osario out of Hamburg. Locations visited include Vigo, Spain and the Golf von Biskaya, Lisbon, Madeira, etc, with many from different trips to Buenos Aires, Argentina and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There are color postcards with illustrations of both mentioned ships, and many photos depict groups of people on the ships. There are also plenty of photos of port cities, street scenes, and the nature and architecture of the places visited. There are fifty-six photographs of various sizes (many 2.5" x 3.5") in this beautifully maintained and cleverly annotated vacation album from England, 1937. The green faux leather "British Made" album measures 7.75" x 11.25" and is filled with brown paper pages, 24 of which are used with 12 blank in the back. The annotation is what makes this album particularly special - the author, referred to as "me" in many photos but never by name, narrates and comments on the vacation fun alongside the photos. The album begins with introductory photos of "us" (two women) and "the Bungalow" followed by a marching shot to Budleigh Salterton Beach. The friends ("Barbara" "Christine" and "me") enjoy sailboat races, mineature golf at Phear Park, motor boat rides (on the Dixon's boat called "Chubby"), rock climbing, beach ring toss, sunbathing, acrobatics, swimming and horseplay, a game of "rounders", and a trip and picnic lunch to Shell Cove. Maroon string-bound album measuring 11.5 x 7.25" with "Photographs" in gold on the cover and an embossed frame pattern. Contains 28 black-and-white photos from the 1939-1940 Golden Gate International Exposition. The album starts with a photo of the impressive 80-foot statue of Pacifica; the theme of the exposition was apparently "Pageant of the Pacific." There are also photos of the Tower of the Sun, Court of the Moon, Temple Compound, and the other buildings at the exposition. The person who compiled the album included some sketches of Pacifica and select details of the architecture. Photographs measure between 2.75 x 4.5" and 4.5 x 2.75" and are glued to the pages. Most of the photos are not annotated.

A series of eight 4" x 5.75" color snapshots from the 1980s. They show a Stripper in a Police Officer's uniform, and a birthday boy who is entertained by the good cop/bad cop. So 1980s! In good condition.

A fascinating photo album which dates from 1924 to 1940. It starts with the documentation of the first passenger flight around the world on a Graf Zeppelin, which includes the woman Journalist, Lady Drummond Hay. There are twelve photos of the zeppelin, photographed at its stop in Los Angeles. It appears fthat this album was put together by a Sailor on the USS Vega, and there are photos of scenes on the ship, as well as at stops. There are fantastic shots of Alaska, San Diego, the Panama Canal, Seattle, New York City, Grenada, etc. There are also photos of other ships, including the USS Constitution, the USS Niagara, USS Langley, USS Texas, etc. The album measures 7" x 11" and has 164 snapshots held to the page with corner tabs. Most of the photos are described, either with a typewritten note pasted under photo, or written within the negative. One photo is loose and creased, otherwise it is in very good condition and quite beautiful.

Mounted photo of the Safety Committee from the Anaconda Copper Mining Company in Great Falls, Montana. The photo is dated 1915 on the verso, and the men in the Safety Committee are identified, including James O'Grady, E.S. Bardwell, W.T. Burns, Peter Thill, W. H. Gunniss, Jame L. Price, F. J. Brule, Milo W. Krejci, J. G. Klepinger and A. t. Elliott. In total, it measures 10"x 12," and the photo measures 6.75" x 8.5." The upper right corner of the photo is loose from the mount and the lower left corner has a small tear.

This exceptional album was published by the National Committee for Self-Determination of Cyprus, as indicated by a label affixed to the inside front cover, with address provided in Athens, Greece. Several references to publications by that organization can be found online, all from the mid- to late-1950s. No other captions or context is provided anywhere in this album, nor any dates anywhere. The photos are understood to shout in silent protest. To briefly contextualize the politics surrounding this photographic record: Cyprus had been under Ottoman rule for centuries until 1878, when the British Empire gained control. During the Ottoman years, the Turkish population steadily grew, especially in the island's northern and eastern areas. The British held the island in a status of protectorate until the First World War; thence, until 1925, as an annexed territory under military occupation; and thereafter, until 1960, as a Crown colony. Brooklyn 31, New York Length: 250 feet Breadth: 40 feet Depth: 18 feet 1947 Landscape orientation, 11 11/16" x 9 3/8", 20 leaves/40 pages, glossy card stock, one photo per page (9 7/16" x 7 9/16"). Black plastic spiral binding. This publication was constructed for durability: in addition to the thick covers (with photos on both sides), and the possibly waterproof pages, each cover comes with a thick transparent-vinyl protective sheet, spiral-bound to the rest of the album. Unfortunately, the front vinyl sheet is barely attached, and yellowed with age, and is smaller than the front cover at each dimension (being 8 5/8" x 10 1/8").
