Description:
London: Calder & Boyars, 1966. First UK edition, first printing. This is a very near fine copy. The dust wrapper is very attractive with its plain design, and has not been price clipped (30s). The boards are fine and free from chips and marks. The text blocks are bright and white, and the internals free from previous owners ink. Overall, this is a very near fine copy. Critics and fellow writers praised the book on its release. Due to its frank portrayals of taboo subjects, it was the subject of an obscenity trial in the United Kingdom, subsequently being published here in its first edition two years later.

Description:
London: Michael Joseph, 1986. First edition, first printing. This is a very good (or better) copy. The dust wrapper is only slightly sunned at the spine, correctly showing the original £12.95 net price. The boards are tight and the text blocks bright and white throughout. There is the Ex-Libris label of former Conservative counsellor David Fagan to the front fly, thus the signature also reads 'David HI! Dick Francis' in blue ink. This is a very good (or better) copy overall, marred by the Ex-Libris label and sunning.

Description:
The Library by George Crabbe and Edward Ardizzone, 1st/1st, 1930London: The De La More Press, (1930). First edition thus, first printing. This is a very good (or better) copy. Issued without a dust wrapper. Bound in paper-covered boards with black titling and a frontal Ardizzone illustration. There is a notable mark at the spine, casting this copy down from the very near fine grading. The corners are slightly bumped and the edges rubbed. The internals are mostly clean, but there is some major residue to the rear endpapers, with a visible attempt to remove it proving poor. There are no ink inscriptions and the early Ardizzone illustrations are all clean and present. This is a very good copy of a scarce work. A poem by George Crabbe and an early work by Edward Ardizzone.

Description:
Leeds: Swan Press, (1925). First and only limited edition. This is a very good (or better) copy. Limited to 200 copies, this being number 49. There is a slight nick to the front panel and some very light soiling to the top edge, which unfortunately bleeds to the rear. Very slight creases are present to both panels. The red titling is bright and the red stitching is tight. Printed by Sydney Matthewman at the Sign of the Swan. This copy was given as a Christmas gift, presumably to one of the author's close friends. It is inscribed: "With best wishes for Christmas from Cicely and Laurence Binyon" in black ink. Overall, this is a very good copy – copies are scarcely signed, particularly by Laurence and his wife. Binyon's translation of nine tanka into rhymed metrical verse. Seven of these appears in Binyon's Catalogue of Japanese and Chinese Woodcuts in the sup-Dept of Oriental Prints & Drawings in The British Museum (1916).

Description:
London: Elkin Mathews, (1894). First edition, first printing. One of 300 copies printed. This is a very good (or better) copy. The publishers blue cloth-bound boards, with the gilt publishers emblem to the front panel, are slightly bumped at the corners. The spine is slightly sunned and the gilt titling and bordering is marked. The front panel is a touch rubbed. The internals are mostly clean, but with some light foxing to the front and rear endpapers. The rough-cut text blocks are free from foxing. The author has signed to the front fly leaf: "J. N. C. from the author, Feb 1. 1894". The signature is markedly bold for Binyon's hand, and appears to be written using a different fountain pen or ink than is typical. Overall, this is a very good (or better) copy. The author's third notable publication, but the first published in book form.
