Two mounted albumen photographs sized 8.25 x 6 in., 4to. on 12 x 10 in. light gray and cream-coloured studio board, rubber-stamped photographer’s imprint below image in blank, 1 w/ text w/in negative at lower fore-edge (minor rubbing, slight bumping to corners, edgewear), still VG bright exemplars. Two very scarce original albumen photographs documenting the logging of Woodlawn, Oregon which about 1880 was a small rural farming & logging community on the edge of what at the time was unincorporated Albina. Although the image has scratched in the negative O.S. Palmer, this actually appears to refer to Orville Allen Palmer (1847-1923) who ran a small logging operation in and around Albina, East Portland, and later in Boring, Clackamas, OR supplying the Vancouver and Lucia Mills operated by Loring C.
