Brown cloth with gilt detail, and a reproduction of the title page laid in gold to the front board. Binding has a little bumping to the head and tail of the spine but is otherwise sound. Title page and 50 illustrated leaves, with picture and text to the recto only. The pictures, which have a verse in German below each, each show a scantily clad woman in the Belle Epoque style. The flesh of each woman is colour in a soft pink. Paris: Masson et Cie, 1901. This work on orthopaedia, published in 1901, was part history of orthopaedics, and part medical corset catalogue. It stated that it included 98 gravures, but most of these are black and white vignettes. The work contained 11 full colour lithographic plates engraved by LARTAUD and printed by Geny-Gros. A scarce item, the best example seems to be that of the Wellcome Collection (K30262). They also show the same 11 plates. The plates are in good, clean condition, with just a touch of foxing spots here and there. The reverse shows where each has been removed from the original book. Half leather with mottled boards. The leather spine is attractive, with gilt titles, a little rubbed and spotted. Cracked to hinges but holding well. The boards are somewhat rubbed, with part of the paper of the front board lacking. Surprisingly, the title was obviously written on the card below (Unless the papers was added later and then deteriorated. Internally clean and tidy throughout. vignettes to the two section headings. A beautiful copy of this limited edition short story, with an additional full colour pastel drawing by Santos. grey cloth slipcase, in near perfect condition. Within this is a matching cloth covered folder with titles in black ink to the spine. Also in excellent condition. Stiff card covers in immaculate condition. Inside are eight gathers, each comprising 4 pages. Loose in French folds These include the four beautiful linogravures by Santos commissioned for this work. One is the frontis portrait of Kafka, the other 3 are full page illustrations under tissue guards. This volume contains the entries from "Passion" to "Linen" and many of the plates have wonderful images of people expressing different moods in the style of Lavater. Here the two volumes have been bound as one. Red leather spine with gilt raised bands, titles and decorations. The red leather is somewhat faded to the spine (but uniformly). To the front board, the leather has faded a little more to the top than to the rest. Red buckram boards. The whole is a little rubbed, but overall clean and tidy. Half title, and title to volume one, with date and publisher's details. Then follows the the poems themselves, and finally the contents of volume one. This same pattern is repeated for volume 2. 1900. An attractive two layer glass painting of The Madonna and Child, after Bodenhausen's infamous 'Eine Vision'. Cuno von Bodenhausen (1852-1931). The shaped glass (slightly convex) has been painted in two layers to the rear. Signed in plate to lower right. The two layers of painted glass together give a depth to the image. A few lights scratches to the paint surface, but still attractive. It seems that this was once in a frame, as the edges are unfinished. 270 x 180 mm (10¾ x 7 inches).

There is a touch of light foxing to the cream paper surrounding the print (but not the print itself). . Printed by A. Salmon of Paris. The "The Cries of London" has been a recurring theme in English print making for over three centuries. The series of thirteen paintings by Wheatley were amongst the most popular. Originally published as print 10 in the series, St Paul's can be been in the background. Engraved by Thomas G. Appleton. Signed in pencil by Appleton to the bottom right. The impressed area is 450 x 360 mm (17¾ x 14¼ inches).

The eight full-page illustrations - which includes the frontispiece - each has a tissue guard that is somewhat foxed. There are other in-text illustrations, one a woodcut. The boards are lightly bumped at the corners, but overall in good condition, with a neat ink written owner's name - dated 1890 - to the half title. 304 pages. 230 x 145 mm (9 x 5¾ inches).

London:: Thomas Baker, 1900. First Edition. First edition. Original burgundy cloth with gilt titles to the spine. Originally from the Guildhall Library, London. Has their bookplate to the inside board and some stamps (reference copy). In 1838 a Royal Commission requested that all Roman Catholic priests surrendered their Parish Registers (Records of Births, Deaths & Marriages) to the Government for cataloguing and safe storage at Somerset House. Despite much reluctance on the part of the Catholic Bishops, this book gives brief outlines of those Missions which did comply. The boards are clean and tidy, without damage, and with a small library stamp to the base of the spine. Internally the book is clean and tidy throughout apart from the library stamps. xxv, 122 pp.

Consists of ten songs and six dances artfully arranged and illustrated with Robertson's original watercolour drawings and hand lettered text and music. Photoengraved and screen printed in facsimile by Edmund Evans. Pictorial boards shows signs of rubbing, scrapes and chips, with rough spine ends. Small neat previous owner's name to front. Some minor foxing to several pages. The songs and illustrations are all bright and clean. Walford Graham Robertson (1866 - 1948) was best known as an accomplished author and illustrator, and as a prominent member of London Society. 400 x 290 mm (15¾ x 11½ inches).
