Half modern blue cloth with marbled sides, gilt lettered black morocco title-label on spine. With several engravings in the text and 7 (of which 5 folded) lithographed plates. The very rare first two volumes this scarce periodical. The series was latter published as "Journal de l'Horlogerie française (last isue in 1929).

In this paper Marconi discusses some major improvements of his successfull wireless telegraphy. Dibner 72: "Marconi was 24 when he was transmitting radio signals from Salisbury to Bath, England, a distance of 34 miles. Working with the discoveries of Herz, Branly, Lodge and others he had combined and refined his apparatus to detect Hertzian waves at increasing distances. In July, 1897, the Wireless Telegraph Company was formed; two years later the English Channel was spanned and in 1901 a message crossed the Atlantic". This publication was reprinted from the Proceedings of the Royal Institution, 1911. Read before ther Royal Institution of Great Britain (June 2nd). In 1909 Marconi was awarded with the Nobel price for physics.

Witj numerous portraits of testimoners, figures and typographical decorations. ¶ Most of Rawleight's nostrums contained alcohol, chloroform, menthol, guaicacol and were sold under the claim that they would cure allmost everything. Sold under the condition "no cure, no pay". See Cramp II, p. 102.

S.l.n.d.,, (ca. 1910).. 32 pp. 8vo (15,5 x 24,3 cm.). Original prinetd wrappers. With numerous illustrations. ¶ Apparently an offprint from a larger catalogue. Dealing with infra-red rays and radiation and a variety of lamps used in light therapy.

Paris,: J.B. Baillière,, 1899.. xviii, 471 pp. 8vo (16 x 23,5 cm.). Contemporary half cloth, spine gilt lettered (spine faded, top & bottom sligthly worn for about 2 cm.; corners slightly bumped, but a overall very good copy). With a fine portrait in heliogravure by Dujardin. The standard work on this great French surgeon and his time, who was the first to recognize the process of metastasis, described for the first time invasion of veins by cancer. In 1825 he introduced vagical hysterectomy in France.

Recent half red morocco over marbled boards (style antique), spine with 4 raised bands, gilt lettered. ¶ First French edition of author's "A Practical inquiry on disordered respiration distinguishing convulsive asthma..." (1797), the most complete treatise on asthma that had yet appeared. Bree himself had suffered from asthma during his lifetime. "In this work, says Dr. Munk, the author "embodied the numerous experiments in his own case, gave a more full and complete view of asthma and dyspnœa than had hitherto appeared, and laid down some important therapeutic rules, the practical value of which has been universally acknowledged". The genuine offprint of 1876, being the very rare prospectus to the first edition (1877) of Dareste's great classic on experimental teratology (see Garrison & Morton 534.64). Dareste has distributed only a very few copies of this 'tirage à part' among selected persons. There are three other copies of this offprint known to exist, one with the autograph dedication to baron Larrey.

Very rare, no other copy recorded. Fournet's paper submitted in the contest for the Prix Monthyon. In it he pointed out some shortcoming in Laennec's "Auscultation". Most important Laennec knew only one sound: 'bruit respiratoire, Fournet distinguished two, 'bruit inspiratoire"and 'bruit expiratoire', a major step forward thus.

With 62 figures in the text and 16, partly coloured, chromolithographical plates with their leaves of explanatory text. ¶ A very good and clean copy of this classic work on experimental teratology. Garrison-Morton 534.65: "Dareste devoted his career to experimental teratology, and in this work established the field as a science". This second edition is greatly revised and enlarged (the first of 1877 has only 364 pages). Contains a valuable history of teratology. --(Some scattered light foxing along the edges).

Paris,: L'Imprimerie Impériale,, 1808.. 140 pp. 8vo (14 x 21,5 cm.). In the folded sheets (quires) as published (thus never bound), entirely uncut, edges "a la barbe". Preserved in modern paper wrappers. What was left of the title-page mounted on contemporary paper, the inner & outer margins of the last page reinforced. ¶ By order of the Napoleontic government the Ecole de Médecine published this report related to croup. The commission involved was composed of Corvisart, Hallé, Pinel, le Roy, Baudeloque, Le Roux, Chaussier, Moreau, Laennec, Schilgué, Parist and Friedlander. The editor was Schilgué, but owning to his premature death in 1808, suceeded by Moreux de la Sarthe. The work consist of an analysis of 68 French and foreign work on the subject, starting with Baillou (1576) and ended with Caron (1808). The analysis is concluded by brief chronological check-list of the works examinated. Very rare.

A good and complete inner copy. ¶ A very rare collection of 12 important French and Italian 18th century publications on electricity and its medical application. These 12 papers were probably edited and published by Giovanni Fortunato Bianchini (1719-1779). The first edition was published in 1752, the last in 1763. The WorldCat lists only a few copies. This work is composed of the original remaining sheets of two classics in the paediatric literature. The work by Hariis in the translation of Jean Devaux, published Paris (J. Clouzier), 1754, the work by Boerhaave are the remaining sheets of F. Paul's translation publishet at Avignon by Sailland & Nyon in 1759. Not in Lindeboom. Garrison & Morton, 6321: "Harris was physician to William & Mary. His book served for nearly a century as a standard work on paediatrics. (Nice,: J. Vigon,, n.d. ca. 1881).. A5 flyer (13,6 x 21,3 cm.), 4 pp, folded twice. ¶ The pharmacist J. Vignon was one of the 9 French followers of Mattei's électro-homoeopathie. A very rare piece of ephemerata of which we could not record any other copy.

Paris,: Imprimerie de Quillau,, 1777.. 2 parts in one volume, 13, [i]; 16 pp. 4to (19 x 23,4 cm.). Unbound, in contemporary blind wrappers (which aredust soiled), entirely uncut. ¶ The second part bears the title"MEMOIRE de M. Sigault, ... lu aux Assemblées du 3 & du 6 Décembre 1777, and is concluded (pp. 9-16) by: "RAPPORT de MM. Grandclas & Descemet, au sujet de la Section de la Symphise des os pubis, fait par M. Sigault ... la nuit du premier Octobre 1777". A milestone in the history of operative obstetrics. It was Petrus Camper (1722-1789), who first proposed symphysiotomy, and Jean Réné Sigault, who first performed it succesfully upon Madame Souchot in 1777. A good inner copy with ample margins. Very uncummon.

The actual date of publication was 1753. Very rare, no records found in any library, including the NLM, BN-Opal, WorldCat, B.M., etc.
