Stowell, 1943. Stock a bit unevenly toned and lightly soiled, small loss to bottom left-hand corner of two images not approaching text or image; overall Very Good. Three original illustrations, including what appears to have been the proposed pictorial title page of an unpublished pamphlet titled "Civilians at War," a guide to the ongoing warfare and production now that the United States had entered World War II. Apart from the title page, the illustrations depict examples of demolition and general purpose bombs by size from 100 to 4000 pounds, accompanied by a nattily-clad gent for size. Housed in button portfolio with first panel featuring 11 pages on stiff cardstock with photographs and fabric samples. Second panel features 63 fabric samples for shirts, most with descriptions and prices mounted to rear. Among the samples featured are Satin-stripe Broadcloth, Woven Silk Rayon, Basket-weave Twist, and Stevens Chambray, Sanforized Shrunk. A label underneath gives monogram options and notes "All Starr Shirts Strictly Union Made." Light wear and scuffing to wallet with brief exposure to extremities. Overall Very Good.

Two publisher's advertisements laid in at front: first announcing the publication of Gulliver's Travels as the first book issued by the Club, and the second announcing the sale of the King's original drawings for the book. Light rubbing to edges and joints of boards with a few minor scuffs. Rear hinge cracked but binding is otherwise sound and interior unmarked. Slipcase sturdy and stable. A Very Good or better copy.

One of a series of scientific textbooks authored by the formidable British mathematician and astronomer John Herschel (1792-1871), published shortly after the appearance of his groundbreaking work "A Preliminary Discourse on the Study of Natural Philosophy," considered today a "classic in the empiricist tradition of the philosophy of science" (Oxford Dictionary of National Biography).

June 19-1910, Huey and Hyland Foto." Light edgewear and touch of spotting and scuffing to each with small patch of surface loss to bottom left corner of 1910 photo. The 1909 photo shows a large crowd of men, women, and at least three babies arrayed across a large pile of stones and logs. The setting appears to be the same backstop as from the 1910 photo, which gives a more complete idea of the event, capturing the bases, baselines, flags, and the crowd atop the same large mound watching on.
