Anti-American photographs, depicting the USA as degenerate, full of poverty, unemployment, alcohol and sex, etc. Roosevelt is particularly mocked, and portrayed as getting the war he wanted. Reproductions of Dorothea Lange "Migrant Mother" and other documentary photos. The scarce dust wrapper (depicting a man stroking a showgirl on stage) is present, but in a bad way! Spine is almost entirely missing, and is held together by tape. Pale card boards with owner's bookplate to the front board. Text in German. Unpaginated. 250 x 180 mm (9¾ x 7 inches).

Otto Snoek photographed the images presented here during six trips to Ukraine between 1989 - 1992. He documents a poor and desperate - but proud - country, in the latter years of communism, and records the people and places in a style which means that different things happen simultaneously in his photos. Fascinating.

Dark green slipcase containing a dark green folder, both in beautiful condition. Inside is a pale green soft cover, and the work, in French folds (loose as designed). No marks or damage. This copy is 10/88. The paper is verge, a la forme, du Moulin de Fleurec. Signed and numbered to back board by Billy Childish, with Hangman gallows and Aquarium sea horse stamps. Book is number 33 of only 50. There is a second signature on a heavy paper (almost like a bookplate) tipped into the inside of the front board. This is also adorned with one of Childish's hangman block cuts (a different one to that on the rear board. There is also a small red stamp that looks Chinese, but is indecipherable. 16 pages on heavy stock. Poetry in red type. 12 full colour plates. Hand bound hardback in hessian boards. From Le Monde Plaisant; which was a weekly satirical French newspaper. Founded in Paris in 1878 by Gustave Frison who illustrated it along with Edmond Lavrate. Each issue was 8 pages, including a central double page like this, in colour. The newspaper ceased publication in September 1885. Edges of the print are delicate and have some losses / chips. Printed on fine chine papier. Paper is 48cm x 33cm. Signed by Bossert below the image. A little creasing to the paper, particularly at the edges, but overall and attractive piece. Otto Richard Bossert (1874–1919), also known as O. R. Bossert, was a German portrait painter, art teacher and graphic artist. Among his works are portrait etchings of historical figures and color woodcuts. His early works were influenced by Max Klinger. Bossert was born in Heidelberg and studied in Karlsruhe, before settling in Leipzig. In 1904 he began teaching at the Leipzig Academy for the Graphic Arts. In 1911 he spent a summer in Normandy and Brittany, where he was introduced to the art of Paul Cézanne. Bossert was a winner of 1914 Villa Romana prize. He died in 1919 in Leipzig. (Wikipedia). .
