11.5" x 15.25" photo album with close to 400 photos inside. The first 165 photos or so, show images from Wellesley College with buildings on Campus, Freshaman and Senior Day Mistresses, May Day, Semi-centennial, members of Noanett House, Stone Hall Fire, a play, house parties, commencement in 1927, "President Pen" (Ellen Fitz Pendleton), Katherine Lee Bates (America the Beautiful), President Lowell, etc. There are a few photos of an Asian student and a Harvard football game as well. Other photos show a trip to the forum in Rome and one photo from Egypt, with others of friends in the snow and at the beach. The covers and pages are loose and a few photos are missing from the corner tabs.

10.125" x 13" photo album with over 300 photos that capture the joy, exuberance and creativity of Wellesley college students from 1916-1917. These gorgeous black and white photos display the delights of attending an all women's college. There are several class photos, and shots from inside dorm rooms, administrative buildings nd mess halls, but the majority of the photos share the playful side of students. Together the women are seen dancing, laughing, rowing, playing instruments, and politicking. In one photo, a woman is holding a "Debs" sign, and in another a sign that reads "utopia." There are several pages full of theatrical performances and costume shots in nature and on stage. Other photos share experiences t the beach in the summertime and again in the colder months. The photos vary in size and are all glued to the page. Around 12 photos are missing and a couple are detached, along with the front cover. There are not captions, but you can feel the joy of the women in this album.

Page 1 is blank; pages 2 thru 5 have pasted-in plates (approx. 4" x 5") listing the board and officers of the company, with a dedication page. Each subsequent page contains two small sepia-toned photos (1 11/12" x 2 7/8"), every photo is carefully captioned. Most of the photos are landscape in orientation, with a few portraits - most of which are of the members of the board. Overleaves are blank. 79 photos in total - the last page only contains one photo "A Portion of Colored Town - Stotesbury". Pictured are the tiny town of Glen White, southern West Virginia, and the nearby company town of Stotesbury (long the home of Senate majority leader Robert C. Byrd.) Both are in Raleigh County. 7.25" x 11" suede covered photo album with 43 photos inside from California, Utah, and Colorado from the late 1890s, early 1900s. There are about 25 larger commercial photos and 17 family snapshots, which feature a cat named Phyllis. The commercial photos are from California and Colorado and include a few color Photochroms. Most are identified within the negative and some show Native Americans and what looks to be Chinese in Chinatown. Dates in these range from 1899-1901. Identified images include San Gabriel Mission, Santa Barbara Mission, South Pasadena Ostrich Farm, Hotel Green in Pasadena, "Three Belles of San Louis Rey, all over 100 years old, Cal, Garden City Foto Co., Stewart Residence in Orange CA, Cliff House, Seal Rock, Swimmers in Sutro Bath, Pikes Peak, Salt Palace, etc. Some unidentified photos include what looks to be Mt. 12 x 7.25" heavy album with a worn leather cover. The pages of the album are white and rigid. The first page of the album contains a typed commentary on the contents of the album, which largely consists of photos of the White Mountains in New Hampshire taken during a trip in 1900. There are 44 photos measuring between 4.75 x 3.75" and 4 x 5" and are glued to the pages along with typed annotations describing the views. Areas pictured include Silver Cascade, Mount Willard, Beecher's Cascade, Elephant Head, Mount Webster, Flume Cascade, Mount Washington, and other mountains and falls. Near the end of the album, there are more photos, that appear to have been added later. These include a photo of a group on the beach and interiors. There is one photo that has been torn from the page, the photos are faded, there is some spotting to the pages and the front cover is detached. 13.25 x 10.5" black string-bound album with "Photographs" on the front in gold and an embossed horse head. The first page reads: "My Collection of Wild Flowers" by Jean Velky. As this title suggests, the album has 58 numbered flower samples that have been mounted on color construction paper and laminated, then pasted to the pages. Each flower is accompanied by a handwritten description of the features of the plant and where and when it was found. The album is undated but appears to be from the 1940s or 50s. One sample is loose, otherwise it remains in very good condition. Sample flower descriptions: Spider Wort This flower has a purple blossom, and grows to the height of about seven to eight inches. I found it on Harmony St. on May tenth. Nodding Trillium This flower has a white blossom, and grows to the height of about four to five inches. I found it in the woods on Summit St. on May 16. 5" x 6.25" leather bound photo album with an embossed Native American in a headdress on the cover. "Photos" is on the front and "Winnipeg" is on the back cover. There are 28 pages with one photo per page (except for one page with two photos) glued to the pages. Two photo are loose, for a total of 31 photos. Photographs mostly measure about 2.25" x 3.25," with a couple slightly larger. Most have handwritten identifications written directly on the photo. They include: city hall, Union bank, post office, CPR hotel and subway, "Soldier's Parade, Decoration Sunday, 1907," Winnipeg Fire Dept hose wagon, Main street, Robinson & Co., North End Hotel, homes in Stonewall, Lake Winnipeg, etc. There are also some photos of shanties and farming. As you can see from the scans, some of the photos are faded. In fact, there is one photo of a woman that is very faded and the caption reads "Gradually fading away." The album is complete and shows the early days of Winnipeg.

7.25" x 11.25" photo album with seventy-six 2.75" x 4.5" snapshots with another four loose photos tucked inside. The album is completely annotated and tells the story of Vi and Bern, who started their life together in 1927 with their honeymoon in Wisconsin, including several photos from their time at Greenwood Ranch. There are also several photos from Muskegon, Michigan, with a few from Illinois, including Forest Preserve. Every photo is identified, and it seems that Vi and Bern's last name was Hana. About half of the album is used and one photo is detached, otherwise it is in very good condition and you can feel the love while paging through this album.

This dark green 11 x 11.5" 3-ring binder contains around 40 photos and other ephemera from Charlotte Lowell, who enjoyed lifetime membership at the Arthur Murray dance studio from around 1956 to 1975 in San Francisco. Within the album there are 12 color snapshots and 28 black-and-white photos of Charlotte in her dancing dresses, with dancing partners, and with other dance friends at the studio. The album starts with a 1956 illustration of Charlotte by Frank Flory and a telegram inviting her to enjoy lifetime membership at the studio. Other ephemera include a letter describing the benefits enjoyed by lifetime members, illustrations of various dances, information sheets describing the golden standard for certain dances, grade cards, and even detailed calendars from 1956 describing Charlotte's lessons. 12 1/4" x 14 3/4" x 2 1/4", portrait orientation. Generic photo album, in excellent condition, some wear to the rear part of the spine but otherwise splendid. The paper, though cheap newsprint, is not chipped nor creased, with only a few minor closed tears. 40 leaves/80 pages. Although the journey up Kilimanjaro took place in July-August 1959, the scrapbook actually has items dating from 1957 and continuing to 1960. The journey was organized on behalf of the Appalachian Mountain Club (the nation's oldest outdoor organization, centered in the northeast), with 8000 members at the time, 18 of whom went on this particular trip - the AMC's first to the continent of Africa, organized and led by the intrepid Ms. Swanzey Alberta Stutsman (1911-2003), assistant advertising manager of Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co., of Wilbraham, a suburb of Springfield, Massachusetts. 10" x 13 1/4" scrapbook of 46 leaves/ 40 pages (double-sided). Pianist Margaret Whittier of Lisbon Falls, Maine curated this scrapbook. Items within are from the years 1919-1938. As a young lady, Miss. Whittier was a student of a prestigious Miss Wells, and Margaret Whittier was her most esteemed student. The majority of material are of newspaper clippings granting praise, such as the following: "Miss. Whittier memorizes easily, playing her entire program without the musical score. She is a performer exceptional in refinement of musicianship, artistic interpretation and command of the piano's resources. Her personality is charming and it is a pleasure to watch her movements at the instrument as well as to hear her play." A 9.75 x 15" brown folder containing service records for Florence Portman Canedy, a junior grade Lieutenant in the Navy WAVES in 1943-1945. Most of the service records are documents about appointments, transfers, and change of duty. There is also a certificate appointing Flo an ensign, forms describing her civilian job as a high school teacher in Dalton, Massachusetts, and a letter of honorable discharge from the U.S. Naval Reserve. Other ephemera include a booklet about WAVES and SPARS, a graduation exercises program for the Naval Reserve Midshipmen's school in Northampton, and a copy of the Miami University Bulletin from 1943. There are a few black and white photos loose within the folder, measuring between 3.5 x 3.25" and 10 x 8", which show two couples, photostatics of discharge papers and certificate of service for Flo's husband, Edward N. Contains around 148 black and white photos from 1910 to 1912 which largely show a group of young women, their chaperones, and some young men as they enjoy areas including Gales Ferry, Stonington, and Mason's Island, Newport, Rhode Island, Watch Hill, and Newark, New Jersey. There are also some photos of children. There are around 4 photos taken of train wrecks, including two where cranes are being used to move detritus. There is also one hand-colored photograph. Photos are pasted to the page along one edge only. Two are missing and a couple are loose. You can feel the fun in this album.

Full of over 280 black and white photographs and photo postcards, this album mostly features pictures of people with many of women. There are some very interesting photos of women who seem to be participating in mock weddings (5 photos), with one woman dressed as a bride and the other as a groom. There are also plenty of photographs of children and some adorable photos of dogs. The photos seem to be mostly split between Maine, especially the Moosehead Lake area, and New Hampshire (specifically Hampton Beach and Mt. Two albums of two women, Adeline and Kay, possibly lovers, travel west to California by train and by automobile. There is a third, un-named woman in a few pics. Photographs alternate between one woman, then the other, and photos of both of them. Beneath or beside each photograph is a smitten little caption, which I believe are song lyrics. They include: "Just You - Just Me,"Precious little thing called - Love!", "Lovin' you till the sands of the desert grow cold.", and "Romance in the Rio Grande". One photo captions: "Down in de cotton fields" Dec. 28, 1929 provides us with the date. There are photos and ephemera from Arizona; New Mexico, Texas, California and Mexico; in the desert and by the beach.
