Sturdy, attractive, tightly bound hardcover, clean, if lightly toned interior, minimal rubbing to extremities. Fine publisher's device at title page, black-and-white engraving of the author opposite. Translation of the original French into English by Henry James, who adds a Translator's Preface, and illustrated profusely by Rossi, Myurbgach, Montegut, Bieler and Montenard, quite fine, in black-and-white engravings. Bound handsomely in blue cloth over boards, silver lettering, ruling, and designs to front cover and spine. Bumping to spine head and foot. Fine penned inscription at first free endpaper and dated to 1891 and the Hotel Victoria, New York. 2-359 pp. and followed by publisher's ads for additional titles.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards.
