About This Item
New York: Conde Nast, 1985. Vintage promotional poster for the 1986 four-part comic miniseries, "The Shadow: Blood and Judgment."
Comic book artist and writer Howard Chaykin's first release following his 1983 science fiction series "American Flagg." Chaykin would take a novel approach to The Shadow, updating the setting to modern-day New York and making use of a notably bleaker, more violent aesthetic-such as depicting The Shadow using two Uzi submachine guns, as shown in the poster on offer here. Although Chaykin's characterization was divisive, courting controversy among fans of the original Shadow, the series proved influential and ultimately successful, and is now considered some of the best work done with the character.
17 x 20.5 inches, folded as issued. Near Fine.
