--/No Dustjacket. 1847. Maryett [Mariett 1835-1892] Bogart and Kate [Catherine 1844-1932] born in the Town of Dryden, Tompkins County, New York. We have two samplers that are hand stitched by each sister along with a manuscript album containing poems and braided hair samples from their family and friends. In 1847, at age 12, Maryett demonstrated her sewing mastery with a 16" X 7 3.4" sampler of wool on linen, showing 4 different embroidered alphabets with one set of numbers and her age surrounded with a border. There is evidence of some folding with some light damage and fading. Nicely framed with a brief genealogy on the reverse frame backing in ink. --/No Dustjacket. Mushroom research file of this noted mycologist, who was a Harvard professor as well as founder and editor of the Farlow herbarium - Farlowia: a Journal of Cryptogamic Botany. His research is collected in an index file box holding information on card stock mostly 5" x 8" There are more than 80 watercolors plus field notes and pen and ink sketches of mushrooms mostly collected from Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. Edgar Seeler recorded the information about the identified mushroom specimens and his wife Katherine Seeler painted the watercolors. We are able to count 38 watercolors relating to Nantucket plus 6 black and white as well as 10 watercolors in an envelope. There are 37 researched mushrooms with watercolors without a designated location. Two were collected in Florida in 1943 and another from California. Katherine Seeler was a member of the Artist's Association of Nantucket as well as an expert on Nantucket baskets. .

Du Bois & Lowe issue a broadside notice for identifying their logs coming down the Susquehanna River. 17" X 14" Printed at Havre de Grace, Md, March 1st. 1862 The neat part of this broadside is the branding codes of the various lumber sellers. Although most of the lumber came from the West Branch of the Susquehanna River, John DuBois was raised in Tioga County New York and still had connections here in the Owego area. Tioga County, NY was and still is a major supplier of logs to the world. This broadside hung in the law office of former Judge George Boldman of Owego. 1830-1915. Letter. GEN. BENJAMIN FRANKLIN TRACY. Civil War; Commandant of Elmira Prison Camp; Brooklyn Lawyer; U. S. District Attorney Eastern District of NY; Defense counsel at the Beecher-Tilton trial; Secretary of the Navy [modernized vessels]; Land owner in Owego area, etc. A collection of more than 200 letters written to his family including his wife [who was killed in a fire along with a daughter and maid in 1890] and surviving daughter and granddaughter from 1866 to 1915. These are collected in his Civil War box labeled Pvt. Tracy. There are NO Civil War letters. There are a few more photographs and documents. There was a biography written about Gen. Tracy by Benjamin Franklin Cooling. But the author was not aware of this collection. . Most letters are readable with envelopes. Most have had the stamps removed. A few were involved with the fire and need to be conserved to view. .
