Fair Condition/Good. ~~Withdrawn Ex-Library Copy, usual stamps and protective cover~~Fairly Good/Good 1st ed 1987 Bodley Head hardback, unclipped DJ, terrific jacket design, very scarce entry in the Rebus series. Fly-leaf removed a little untidily, replacement plain library boards with gilt lettering to spine of red boards. Sold Library stamps to fly-leaf, library stamp to copyright page which states Bury St Edmunds as place of publication, true first printing. Some page tanning, DJ has some wear along edges and lower rear corner tear, with uneven trimming along lower edge of DJ and minimal loss to DJ spine ends, tape marks along inside of boards and inside edge of flaps with library code written in pen inside rear cover. The page block edges have just a hint of toning (much less than normally seen) and there is minor foxing to the top edge still a fine copy in a fine D/W with no fading whatsoever to the red spine lettering. Signed, located (Edinburgh) and dated (Aug 07) and doodled with the Author's customary knots and crosses. A really attractive signed copy and scarce in this lovely, shelvable condition. Near fine, with the lightest of page tanning about the edges, a minute tear and small nick at top end of dj spine, some rubbing, one short narrow scratch, and one tiny mark to rear flap, but still a very attractive copy in a clear Brodart mylar cover.
