Ron Tyler is the director of the Texas State Historical Association and Professor of History at the University of Texas at Austin. He has written or edited a number of books on Western and American history and art, including Visions of America: Pioneer Artists in a New Land. He is editor of the Southwestern Historical Quarterly.

Volume itself has brown covers with sharp gilt lettering on the spine. There is a touch of wear at the head and tail of the spine and just a trace on some corners. An oversized work of 197 pages, with both color and black and white illustrations. Dust jacket is protected in an archival quality Brodart cover. At the head of the spine of the dj there is a tear and some chipping, otherwise fine. A very nice copy that is available for immediate shipment.
