From this humble beginning, under the watchful eye of the British Navy and the management of Swan Hunter (International) Shipyards, 3500 people of a newly formed Sembawang Shipyard Pte Ltd. Took their first rotations through the shipyard, and learned the business of ship repair. Within their first decade, the people of Sembawang went through the first of three major recessions.
