Bambi. A Pop-Up Book

Somerset and London: Publicity Products London (Purnell and Sons Limited). Very Good with no dust jacket. (1950s). Presumed First Thus Edition. Hardcover. In the original publisher's glossy pictorial laminated boards. No dustjacket as issued. No date given but no earlier than 1950 and No later than the 1960s. ? ? Stated inside at the foot of the first page = "This book is based on 'Bambi ' Life in the Woods. By Felix Salten, published by Jonathan Cape". The First Edition of the Original book was published in English 1928, Disney released the famous film in 1942 - so I would imagine this was released some years later attempting to ride on the fame of the film? ? . Regardless of the actual date this is a delightful more 'realistic' version of the story. The boards have a little light rubbing to the tips of the corners, some light surface smudges/scrapes, and there is a small neat repair to the top edge 'fold' of the book, o/w the boards are VG+. Internally there are No Inscriptions or Marks, and 3 douple page pop-ups, with 4 non pop-up illustrated pages in between, but the first pop-up has been folded down incorrectly during storage and there is a small 1 cm long tear to the 'deer' pop-up (easily repaired) and with NO loss. All the illustrations are in full colour and delightfully drawn by Faith Jacques. Overall, allowing for the minor 'faults' as noted above, this is an Excellent Very Clean, Tight and Bright copy.
