Berkeley, CA: Red Mountain Tribe, 1970. Newspaper. 28p., folded tabloid underground newspaper, articles, reviews, news, opinion, events, ads, comix, evenly toned, lightly edgeworn, a few small stains on front wrap, else very good on newsprint. Stories within: pp.2-4, an on-campus demonstration/riot "lasts for hours," with thousands of enraged students and hundreds of armed cops mostly using gas; bullet casings are found (no.9 birdshot, .38 pistol) but no one is reported shot. TRIBE reporters notice a delivery of tear gas to Sproul Hall with maker's name, George Cake a local, factory address 1200 Fifth St., reporters telephone, Cake confirms. His personal home address is here announced to be 240 Willamette Ave, Kensington, home phone is 526-9707 (a later issue describes Cake's displeasure at this outing). Next up, landlord evictions; a protest against CBS sexism; SFPD murders a black bar patron and attempts a cover story; laser technology a 'death ray'; Weathermen arrested; Frank Bartley murdered by Berkeley PD at Aquatic Park; a page devoted to new surveillance technology (infrared, new electronics adaptations, new communication / command / control systems, closed-circuit TV); surplus war gasses kicked out of Okinawa and now stored in Oregon; Laos; Livermore; more.
