Rebound by the Library in a textured burgundy black flecked 'rexine' type binding with NO titling to the spine or covers. In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket, which has been slightly close trimmed to the bottom edge (presume during the re-binding) , but is Not price-clipped and although there is some slight edgewear to the top edge of the dustjacket, the d/j has NO library markings and is now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks VG. There are the usual (some removed) labels/stamps to the front free endpaper, the half title, to the reverse of the title page and there is a small number at the foot of the last page of the Index ONLY o/w there are NO library or other markings in the body of the book - and having been rebound it has kept this rather huge book Very tight and clean. (8) + 536 pp. Illustrated with many full page b/w pages (some with dual images, etc). Sources of Illustrations; Darwin Manuscripts; Works by Darwin; Bibliography; Index. Overall despite its status as an Ex-Lib copy this is a Very Clean, Tight and Bright Near VG copy which has been preserved by the library and therefore might/should last longer than the original book? . " The first full length biography for many decades, where the author uses letters and notebooks only recently (1980s) made available to update this superb life of Darwin. "; Ex-Library; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 544 pages .
