About This Item

London: A & C Black, 1896. First Edition. Octavo. Tan buckram (hardcover); 139pp. Clean and solid copy, not far from fine but for a spot of lifting to cloth on front cover and mild darkening to spine; internally fine.Though advertised as a "handbook of social facts," the author in fact puts forth a detailed anti-radical agenda, arguing for gradual, liberal-minded reforms versus revolutionary re-structuring of the class system. Uncommon, and a particularly nice copy.
