About This Item

London: John Boydell, 1781. Two volumes rebound as one in 2 of the original gilt-tooled leather-covered boards with new leather spine upon which the 2 original leather spines have been laid down--makes for an interesting and attractive "original" binding. There are 150 copperplate engraved plates after the drawings by Paul Sandby and accompanying text. We have been able to locate only two other copies for sale at this time, and one is the 1783 reprint.  Very good condition: clean and tight, with some edgewear and rubbing of leather; pages are clean and bright watermarked laid paper with slight toning at the edges.  There is no staining on the plates--not in the images, not in the margins. Size: 4to.. First Edition. Hardcover. Collectible-Very Good. Illus. by Paul Sandby. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Book.
