A sumptuous binding of calf with gilt decorated flora bands spine, gilt dentelles, delicate decorative gilt turn-ins, red, gold and gilt marbled end papers. All edges in extraordinarily rich gilt. "Signed" Riviere & Sons to the verso of the front free endpapers. Pp.898;bound in three volumes, b/w portrait frontispiece with tissue guard. Binding fine with minimal wear only. Contents clean and tight, a few spots to the prelims. and portrait plate, otherwise unmarked, no inscriptions. A fine tight set in splendid Riviere bindings..
