About This Item

London: Routledge & Kegan Paul Limited. Very Good- in Good+ dust jacket. 1950. First English Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. From the Preface to this English Edition by Professor Georg Misch = "This book is the English Edition of a work that appeared in Germany over forty years ago. Its publication now in England is connected with the political events which led to the destruction of the German Reich ... Thus there has resulted instead of a simple translation, an enlarged version of the book ...and to thank hospitable England which enabled me to continue my work during the period of Nazi domination." . Two Volumes in green cloth boards with bright gilt titling to the spines. Both In the original publisher's dustjackets. The Spines of both volumes are VG plus - a little light 'bumping' to the head/tail of the spines - o/w both spines are a nice even green and bright titling. The front and rear boards of both are near VG but the colour on all 4 boards is patchy/slightly 'mottled' - but no damage. Both volumes are in the original dustjackets which are a little discoloured here and there with a few small (extremity) tears and a small half inch loss to the inner top of the front cover of Volume 1. Both dustjacket spines are lightly spotted along their lengths with a few marks, but both dustjackets are now in new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic covers and look overall near VG. The page fore-edges are lightly 'dusty' and Internally, apart from a little light browning/foxing to the e/ps, the books are Fine, with NO Inscriptions or Marks. Volume 1 = (xii) + 352 pp. Volume 2 = (vi) + 706 pp + 12pp Catalogue of the 'International Library of Sociology and Social Reconstruction' published by Routledge & Kegan Paul Ltd. ". "Misch found evidence of an "I" commemorated in funerary inscriptions about feats of battle and in early texts such as funeral orations, familiar letters, and travel narratives that have both the autobiographical content and the structure of self-reference." . A Scarce First UK Edition of this now Important and Classic work in 2 volumes in their original dustjackets. Images on Request. ; International Library of Sociology and Social Reconstruction; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
