About This Item
Telfair County was created in 1807; later, portions of the county were used in the creation of Dodge, Coffee, and Montgomery counties. Written as a series of historical vignettes, the book contains sketches of the pioneer settlers and information on the dangers they faced and the way they lived. The political, legal, religious, and educational aspects of the county are covered. Civil War rosters are included along with letters from the troops. There is a section on World War I including letters home from soldiers and nurses who were "over there." A complete name index was prepared for this edition.
