Clean and bright internally, minor marking. Susan Edmonstone Ferrier 1782-1854. A 1st edition of the 2nd of Ferrier's 3 novels. With marbled page edges and endpapers, armorial bookplate of John Burton Philips on the front endpaper (who built Heath house in Staffordshire in 1836).
