About This Item

Bibliographical Society, London, first edition, 1962. Cloth, 8vo,. xliii, 63 pp. Approximately 800 entries. From the introduction: "While there are bibliographies of incunabula which deal with the theory of music, there are no bibliographies of those which contain actual music. These are, with few, possibly three or four, exceptions, liturgical books...This catalogue contains descriptions of the printed music in liturgical incunabula in the great libraries in England and France, and the United States. It seeks to compare the different methods of printing music and to define the different styles, thus providing new means for identifying single leaves and determining variants of so-called 'editions'. Booklabel on front pastedown endpaper, otherwise Fine.
