About This Item

London: Victor Gollancz Ltd, 1951. Like her earlier masterpiece Rebecca, du Maurier's My Cousin Rachel combines the elements of mystery and romance in a complex plot set on a large country estate on the Cornish coast. The novel was adapted into the film of the same name in 1952 directed by Henry Koster and starring Richard Burton and Olivia de Havilland and again in 2017 into Roger Michell's My Cousin Rachel starring Rachel Weisz, Sam Claflin and Iain Glen.

Synopsis

My Cousin Rachel is a novel by British author Daphne du Maurier, published in 1951. Like the earlier Rebecca, it is a mystery-romance, largely set on a large estate in Cornwall.

Reviews

On Aug 22 2007, Booksshhe said:
i was looking for Ms DuMaurier's books in a rare fit of nostalgia...i purchased this one---JAMAICA INN---and FRENCHMAN'S CREEK---a rather BigThree from my pre-teen years...as far as the writing goes/went...this book is highbrow Gothic...mannered i style nowadays but boy howdy Daphne can conjure up a few chills...i am not big on Romance Novels but this one plus the other two will give an idea of what real Writing is...in a non-highbrow genre....word up, y'all!!!
