London: Humphrey Millford, Oxford University Press,. Good+ with no dust jacket. 1931. Presumed First UK Edition. Paperback. One of a series of 'The Henny-Penny Books For Little Chicks' for children. All Miniature books sized 7cm x 6.5cm (c. 2.8" x 2.5") . Highly destinctive original pictorial covers in primary colours of red, blue, white, and yellow, and featuring a 'wrap around' 'sillhouette' illustration of a steam train on the front and the back - titled in blue, with card covers cut flush, front and back. Stapled. The staples are rusty and internally 'bleeding' rust in places in the gutters, but all holding soundly. Internally there is a list of titles in this 'Henny-Penny' series (8 listed) on the reverse of the title page. No pagination (but circa 48 card pages). Numerous b/w cute illustrations throughout the book, but none 'signed'. Many of the illustrations here have been coloured in by a child, but lightly and relatively neatly! . Overall the book is tight and clean otherwise, with NO Inscriptions or other marks than those already noted. A charming example of an early child's 20th Century Miniature book. Probably a cheaper option to the publisher's hardback 'Tippenny-Tuppenny' Books. This surmise is made more likely as this is a delightful tale of 'Tippenny-Tuppenny' Ann, toy dog Billy, Golly and Teddy, and their adventures together with Puff Puff the Train!
