There are eight small holes along the length of the red cloth spine, the largest being slightly larger than the eraser on a No. 2 pencil. Internal pages have some sporadic soiling; signatures are a little separated at the middle of the book. Color illustration covers entire front board (Sambo with a green umbrella startled by a tiger), with just slight wear at edges. 24 full page color illustrations, including frontispiece. No names or other markings in book.

Some wear to spine and punched holes but no tears. The story, originally written by Helen Bannerman about a little boy and some tigers in India, has been slightly abridged. No publication date, only a copyright date of 1919. Endpages have a red ine drawing of a high-stepping Sambo with his umbrella. Orange/brown cloth cover, a little rubbed at extremities.
