Red leather with gilt page ends. That is all I can say because it is still sealed. It does state on the spine that it is a signed edition, I have an unsealed one and it is the same and it is signed. I add a baggie to ensure moisture/dust stays out. And you have a choice of light protection please let me know which one or none from the photos. The Silver one has chrome corners, handle with an aluminum frame. The sides are heavy cardboard colored as metal, it is really nice looking. The others are computer sleeves in Black, Pink, or Bluish Teal. They all offer protection from color fading due to light, to retain it to look as you see now.
Synopsis
Raymond Carver was born in Clatskanie, Oregon, in 1938. His first collection of stories, Will You Please Be Quiet, Please (a National Book Award nominee in 1977), was followed by What We Talk About When We Talk About Love, Cathedral (nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in 1984), and Where I'm Calling From in 1988, when he was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He died in August of that year, shortly after completing the poems of A New Path to the Waterfall. About the Reader Peter Riegert costarred in the hit movie Crossing Delancey . His other film credits include Animal House and Local Hero . He has appeared in several Broadway and off-Broadway productions and on television in the PBS miniseries Concealed Enemies .

A collection of 37 stories, Raymond Carver's Where I'm Calling From is a great sampler of Carver's work. His stories are lean, spare and punctuated by what isn't said. They're often blunt, dealing with people in a low point of their lives. These are stories about people dealing with their son's death, breaking down after a divorce and marriages crumbling. They should be sad, but they're not, they're just honest. This is how things turn out sometimes. Take the first story in this collection, Nobody Said Anything. It's about a boy skipping school to go fishing, but it's also about his approaching maturity and his family approaching a splitting point. The story directly deals with those through the fishing and bringing home his catch. These are stories that have stuck with me since I read them. If you've never read Carver before, this is a great place to start: the first, and longest, section of this book is basically Carver's greatest hits. And if you have, the newer stories here rank among his best. All in all, a must-read for anybody interested in modern fiction.
