This is a beautiful travel guide/description of Paris in La Belle Epoque, with black and white illustrations by Charles Dana Gibson which are charming! The volume has 219 pages and 29 full-page illustrations. The covers are faded and sunned, with bumping at the spine ends, but the binding is tight. There are some smudges on the pages, as shown in the photos.

This is a publication of Terra Sancta Arts and is undated. It is quarto-sized measuring ~ 15.5" wide by 13" high. The slipcase has an inset image in a frame of shiny gilt, surrounded by black titling in English and Hebrew; it contains a title page with small versions of all prints with full information. The five prints are beautifully printed with full color and shiny gilt details. They appear to be lithographs as no pixellation can be seen under magnification. I have included photos of all five prints as well as the titles page and slipcase.
All the prints are in very good condition - the slipcase has protected them well, although the slipcase has some slight peeling of the protective plastic coating. The titles print page has two or three small tan spots but all the actual prints are excellent, as shown. They will frame beautifully, or enjoy in the slipcase.

This is a very lovely copy of four short works by the Norwegian author Bjornson, published in Swedish in this 1929 first edition. The front and back boards have an unique marbling with leather band and spine; the spine has the title and author stamped in gilt along with several incised designs. The binding is tight and all pages clean; page tops are gilt. Unfortunately there is one blemish at the top left of the marbled paper on the front, as shown in the last photo. This is a beautiful decorative copy for a bookshelf even if you don't read Swedish!

Beautiful small volume of Benjamin Franklin's autobiography published in Philadelphia in 1895 (not on title page or verso). Green cloth cover boards with large Art Nouveau lily design; spine bumped and faded, lower corners bumped and worn, pages tight. Worst defect is that the frontispiece is detached but present, as shown; it has large black and white etching of Franklin and could be tipped in. 288 pgs plus 34 pg publisher's advertising lists. Some foxing on back inside cover, some soiling, previous owner's name on inside front cover, gilt lettering on cover worn off.

This is a very lovely small book of poetry by Dante Gabriel Rossetti with illustrations by Paul Woodroffe. It was published by David McKay, Philadelphia, and dates to circa 1916. This appears to be a special binding, more luxurious than the softcover binding that McKay published, because this one has covers of thick rose-colored suede leather with the title and author impressed deeply into the suede on the front cover and spine. The front and back have double-page illustrations by Paul Woodroffe, as shown, and the title page has a lovely design as well as a facing illustration; there are 3 other illustrations among the 27 pages. The illustrations are in the Arts & Crafts or Art Nouveau style. The page edges are gilt, as shown, and there is a pink ribbon bookmark sewn in. This is a limited edition copy of Henri Murger's The Bohemians of the Latin Quarter, the basis for the opera La Boheme. It was published by the Societe Des Beaux-Arts; this volume is inscribed #206 of 500 copies. It is bound in maroon cloth boards and has random cut pages with gilt tops, somewhat worn. The interior is excellent, but the corners are bumped and worn and the paper label on the spine is discolored. There is a lovely full color frontispiece, as shown. Lovely volume!

This is the six volume collected works of Robert Burns published in 1886 by Gebbie & Co. in Philadelphia. Volume I has an inscription page identifying it as "The Ayrshire Edition de Luxe Limited to One Thousand Numbered Copies of which this is Number 113," but this is the only volume with that identifier. These are 8o volumes about 9.25x6.5" with brown board covers having the title and volume number gilt-stamped on the spine. They contain sixty illustrations, including those facing the title page as shown; some of the illustrations fold out, as shown. The page tops are gilt. These volumes are in good condition with no writing or marks anywhere. The spines and corners have normal wear, as shown, and in the first volume the Publisher's Preface page is beginning to tear out. They may have been rebound from the original edition, but they are great for the collector.

This is a signed first edition copy of a novel published in 1913. It is a large, handsome volume with the cover bearing an elaborate gilt rectangle of Art Nouveau leaves and swirls and a color illustration inset. The condition is quite good with the following exceptions: the spine is sunned, bumped, and faded, and the gilt lettering and design on the spine is faded. The corners also have wear. The inside cover page bearing the author's signature has a rectangular discoloration, as shown in the photo. There is a frontispiece with full color illustration but the tissue covering has come loose but is present and could be tipped in. The title page is printed in red and black, and red is used for the beginning of each chapter. This is a 1976 book on trout behavior and riseforms, a wonderful resource for the fly fisherman. It is lavishly illustrated. This copy is in its original dust jacket, protected by Mylar, and it is in very good condition with slight yellowing but no damage and no markings at all inside. Great for a gift or resource.

These are the two volume collection "Life, Letters, and Speeches of Charles Dickens" published in 1894 by Houghton, Mifflin in Boston. They are bound in very dark green cloth with the title and volume on the spine, and measure 8.25 by 5.5" each. Volume I has 430 pages and Volume 2 476. The page tops are gilt and the edges are deckled. It is a bit confusing: these are identified as 'Standard Library Edition, The Writings of Charles Dickens, . . . in Thirty-two Volumes' of which these are Volumes XXX and XXXI, but they are also stand-alone collections of the correspondence.These volumes are in good condition with no writing or marks anywhere. The spines and corners have normal wear, as shown, but overall they are quite good.

Great first edition of an etiquette book from 1955, bright blue dust jacket with period illustration in black, white, and orange. Text tackles topics for newly married couples; some are quaint but some we're still struggling with! Binding tight and pages very clean; covers show a little dirt at bottom. Dust jacket has chipping along bottom edge and one rip at top, as shown in photo, and some wear and sunning on spine as shown. Overall very good condition.

This is the 1937 "new, revised, enlarged edition" of the 1934 original. It has 96 pages of detailed medical explanations of sexual organs and practices, with black and white medical diagrams/illustrations. This copy is in good + condition with some darkening of pages; original pebbled paper cover in blue is in good condition with minimal wear and bumping. Very good copy of this 1950 book about Westchester NY, with 54 photos by Samuel Chamberlain of locations around Westchester. Dust jacket protected by plastic cover, but has a bit of damage at the corners, as shown in the photos. Boards are completely clean; binding is tight, and pages are clean.

A volume of first-hand history from war correspondent Richard Harding Davis, covering the Cuban-Spanish, Greek-Turkish, Spanish-American, Russo-Japanese, and Boer Wars. It includes his account of the San Juan Hill engagement. Illustrated with many photos, including photo frontispiece. Covers very good except for spine, which has some damage at bottom and top. Random-cut pages. Binding is tight and pages are clean.

This is a very large volume with excellent plates of U.S. dueling pistols. It is marked number 596 of an edition of 2500 copies, 2375 for sale. It is also inscribed by both authors, as shown. The dust jacket is intact and not price clipped or otherwise altered. The volume is in very good condition with only one issue: there is a book plate that has slightly discolored the facing page, as shown. All the interior is in excellent shape, with only slight rippling and wear to the dust jacket corners. I have endeavored to show all the faults, as well as the beauty of the plates.

Beautiful edition of Browning's Pippa Passes, written 1841; this edition was probably published around 1900. It comes in its box, whose graphics reproduce the design of the cover. This is a beautiful, beautiful illustrated volume of John Greenleaf Whittier's poetry from 1885. The cover has elaborate Eastlake style decoration embossed in black on the dark green boards, with a title gilt rectangle with delicate flowers. The spine is also quite decorative with black and gilt embossing. The frontispiece has an engraving of Whittier, as shown in a photo. Page edges are gilt on three sides and very clean, and binding is tight. There is a dedication on inner flyleaf in ink. This is an excellent copy of the 2001 about saltwater fly fishing. It is a first edition, complete with a full dust jacket protected by Mylar. There are no marks or inscriptions on the interior. The exterior is very good with little to no wear. A great gift copy!

This is an attractive 1868 publication, the first American edition of a compendium of literature and poetry. 504 pages with index, illustrated frontispiece, random-cut deckle edge pages, tight binding. Covers have bumped corners and wear to top and bottom of the spine but bright gilding on spine and front cover in decorative design.
