The Blind Farmer was originally published in 1816 and Hamlain or The Hermit on the Beach appears to have been first published as early as 1799. The author of The Blind Farmer, Barbara Hofland (1770-1844), was an English writer of moral stories for children, poetry, and schoolbooks.
