The book is based on their many hours spent talking with an Indonesian exchange student at The Park School in Buffalo, where Bachmann was a member of the faculty.

Covers show a bit of soiling (some splotchy blue around head of spine and on front cover). Inner hinges repaired. No statement of publication date, likely issued in this edition circa 1880 or 1890. The publisher, Milner and Company, was established in 1874. pp. 256, plus 32 advertising. 12 x 8 cm. Two moral tales for children in one volume. The Blind Farmer was originally published in 1816 and Hamlain or The Hermit on the Beach appears to have been first published as early as 1799. The author of The Blind Farmer, Barbara Hofland (1770-1844), was an English writer of moral stories for children, poetry, and schoolbooks.
