If that assessment was based on his publications prior to "Small Yacht Cruising," this book surely enhanced that reputation. In this work he examines a number of then modern designs for small cruisers, discusses seamanship, rigging, provisioning, clothing and equipment. A feature of the book is the inclusion of 11 large folding plans showing yachting lines and accommodation options.Scarce in such attractive condtion.

The first published book by the English art critic, novelist, painter and poet John Berger, whose novel G. won the Booker Prize in 1972. The novel revolves around the disappearance of Janos Lavin, a fictional exiled Hungarian painter, and his diary's discovery by an art critic friend called John; it was withdrawn by the publisher under pressure from the Congress for Cultural Freedom a month after its publication.

Dated 10 Mai 1942, and encouraging Belgian actions against the Nazi occupiers on the second anniversary of the German invasion of Belgium, a "Journée de Deuil National" (National Day of Mourning). Printed attribution "La Garde Blanche". Good condition. Creased / browned. La Garde Blanche were a Second World War Belgian active resistance para-military unit, active in sabotage and primarily operating in the Flemish regions.
