" Swanson reports that it is a "valuable, well-written early history based upon . . . . on-the-spot investigation while all early participants were still living and could be interviewed. In addition to [an] authoritative account of Drake well, Henry gives detailed histories of many early producing properties, companies and individual oil men. Signed and dated 1892 by the author on front wrapper along with underlining marks in ink. Small stamped name of previous owner on front wrapper. Dr. Thrasher uses 8 case studies to document the effect of nasal obstructions on the voices of singers. Not located in OCLC. One vertical crease mark but overall very good.

Stitched, as issued. 51pp. Attorney and Irish World columnist, Stephen Dillaye was a strong supporter of the Greenback movement in the 1870's and 1880's. He opposed efforts to reduce the number of "Greenbacks" issued during the Civil War and to calls for a return of the gold standard. On the other side, former Treasury Secretary, Hugh McColloch, was a leading advocate for returning to the gold standard and for a strong national banking system. He was an articulate and influential "hard money" man. When McColloch gave a series of lectures at Harvard outlining his views of monetary policy and banking, Dillaye penned this response. Small 4to pamphlet, 4pp. 1876 Democratic Presidental candidate and lawyer, Samuel Tilden, was invited to speak at the 1881 International Cotton Exposition but declined. In this letter of decline, he made several observations about cotton in the South during Reconstruction. Tiny tears at the top and bottom along with one closed tear on the fold, which does not affect the text.

Pamphlet (approximately 5 1/4" x 7 1/2"), stitched as issued. 8pp. (unpaginated) followed by a fold-out diagram. Small printed sheet tipped-in after front wrapper with introductory remarks. This pamphlet on ship navigation seeks to "facilitate and simplify the work of reducing compass courses." An unusual Michigan imprint. Unrecorded in Worldcat. One vertical crease mark but otherwise near fine.

Northampton: J, H. Butler, 1838. First edition. Good. Pamphlet. 8vo. 16pp. Sabin 104287. This is a strong statement delivered by a Massachusetts judge against dueling. It also contains references to a fatal duel between two congressmen in 1838, William Graves of Kentucky and Jonathan Cilley of Maine. Congress outlawed dueling in 1839. Some tanning with a few tiny chips at outer edge with no affect on text. Blank white paper wrapper. Still a good copy of a scarce pamphlet.
