Page edges browned, scuffed and a bit marked but reasonably clean, and upper edges have reddish hue. A little foxing to preliminaries and hindmost pages. Hardback, 1867 first edition, published by Griffith and Farran, London, 355 pages, vintage children's book, rare.
In very good condition for age. Patterned boards and spine with gilt lettering and detail. A little rubbing to boards and signs of shelf-wear at edges but the boards and spine have largely retained their colouring. Corners bumped and slightly torn. Binding reasonably firm although inner front hinge is visibly cracked, whilst inner rear hinge has less apparent crack. Gilt page edges, still very visible, especially on outer and lower edges with only slight scuffs, although upper edge does have more scuffing and the gilt has faded a little but is still clear. Seller stamp to FFEP. A little foxing to endpapers but apart from occasional marks throughout the page surfaces are quite clean, with no underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.
