Illustrated throughout with b/w photographs/illustrations, full page, multi-photos to a page and double page pictures, etc. Produced during the First World War. This issue is mainly concerned with 'The War in Europe'. Articles include : - 'The 5th Stage of the Battle of ARRAS: Fighting down the Valley of Scarpe' ; 'The Concrete "Fortins" of the Hindenburg Line...' ; ' The Bikanir Camel Corps'; . 2 Double page b/w illustrations = 'The Factory's part in the Great War: The Blast Furnaces of Caen in Normandy.' - Drawn by Lucien Jonas. AND ' With The Indian Cavalry during the 1917 Advance on the Western Front' (SIKH Cavalry) - Drawn by Christopher Clarke, R. I. Plus 'The Native Mounted Troops of Algeria in the French Army'. A Full page 'Roll of Honour' - with small individual photographs - for Officers killed whilst serving; and 'The Great European War Week by Week'. Also a few minor articles on other topics including : - 'Women's Sphere in Wartime' (includes a small article by the National Food Refoem on 'Potato Substitutes'). , 'In the Petrol World', etc. Quite a few b/w adverts in the magazine, many with war-related themes, many not. Rear cover has a small 'closed' edge tear and a lovely full page pictorial period Advert - In blues/greys/oranges - for DeReszke cigarettes. The Front cover has Adverts, decorated border, etc, all in blues/oranges.. With a few small marks, Internally VG. Overall VG/NF. A fascinating period magazine and very topical given the current release of the film 1917.
